Does Windows Defender actually do anything

Hi jon, it's all in one window now. It has different pages but only one window. I agree about the version in your pic, I hated that setup. In my opinion that was the worst.

I understand it has changed from 4.8 to 5.0 but I have already switched. When MSE came out I gave it a try and it found things on files on my hard drive that Avast 4.8 did not. So I completely switched and haven't looked back. I also liked that MSE seemed less intensive at active scanning.

If MSE ever fails me then I will probably give Avast 5.0 a try.

I believe in my commercial solution. Eset NOD32 Antivirus 6 + Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro". gave defender and MSE good to go away :) MSE is good, but for my satisfaction this is better. note that both of those have complete security products, it's just after a lot of testing i found that nod is better antivirus than agnitum and agnitum has way better firewall than eset. you decide what's your best solution!

also make difference between free and commercial. MSE is i think the best free solution (though you have to have genuine windows? :P), but i like to pay for eset and agnitum cause they made my life easy for years!
