Domain and Networking Problem

Hi there,

I've installed "XP Mode" on my Windows 7 64-bit with no problem.
I can connect to internet if I use "NAT" for my networking setting. The problem is, for one of my assignments, I need to use old programs which I have installed in my "XP Mode" to connect to another computer in my school domain.

I have googled this for a few days now, and many people seems to have their problems resolved with the "bridging mode". I have tried it as well with my "Intel (R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN" network card, but it does not work.

My school domain requires authentication and some setup to be connected to the network. I am not sure how I could set up the connection in "XP Mode" so that the programs could access other comps in the domain.

On a side note, "bridging mode" also cut my school internet connection which worked previously in NAT network mode. I could not ping to my host computer from XP Mode, either. I am not sure how to deal with this problem.

Any assistance on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

NAT worked as it effectively turned your PC into a virtual router based on your NIC and then created a separate private network (usually through an adapter or service), which requested data from your physical NIC then used that and relayed it to this new private network for your VM and since your physical NIC is already authenticated, there were no problems. Since your school's network requires authentication (maybe some type of filtering), you'd actually have to contact the IT team there to see exactly what measures of security they take and how to exempt your XP Mode installation to allow it on the network.

Unfortunately, if authentication is required, there is really no other simple way that wouldn't be essentially bypassing your network's security as bridged mode essentially is seen on the network as simply another machine.
