Don't like Windows 10, trying download Windows 7 - product key fails

I am really not enjoying Windows 10, I really want to go back to Windows 7, unfortunately the time period has passed to revert back/downgrade. I don't have a disc of windows 7, it was already installed on the PC- but when I am prompted to put in the product key- it fails- pop up windows states something generic, & suggest to contact support whose virtual helpdesk is of no help. If I read the local Microsoft number will they be able to 're-register' the product key. Windows 10 is running at the moment.

Is there any way of being able to revert back to Windows 7 now for me. Microsoft don't make it very easy!

You need a readable product key on the COA sticker to do a clean install and activate Windows.

thanks Thrashzone- this sounds promising but will it work (?), seeing's I just reset Windows 10 last night hoping because I originally had Windows 7 as the OS, that it would revert back to 7, but it didn't - I just got a cleaned up Windows 10.....

a "reset" of Win10 usually results in a reformat and clean install of Win10 - it was like that with Win8.x also
you could try clean installing win7, overwriting the existing win10 OS if you want; I actually did that on a test machine
