Solved Download error

[GMS Group]

Hi

I use Firefox (latest) and Internet Download Manager. When I initiate a download the download doesn`t start at all... whether in FF or IDM. I even tried latest IE. No error is shown... downloads just won`t start.

I tried the FF plugin DownThemAll:

Now the weird thing is:

Netmeter shows download activity

I haven`t made any system changes recently. This problem only started today and I am clueless.
Could it be a Win 7 system setting?

Does it happen on every download from every website?
Try downloading this IE reset tool:

You don't have to use it - just test the ability to download.

It could be that the files are being served up from a very slow server that hopes to keep you on the web page until various exploits have completed doing their thing. Downloading Season 01, Episode 08 seems like a good way to get infected. I hope that you have a good antivirus/antimalware tool that scans the websites that you visit for malicious code.

There could be legitimate sites with legitimate files that can be downloaded legally. The info above generic in nature.

The site I am using is https://premium.rpnet.biz/
I have used it for nearly 2 years without any problems and I do use Emsisoft Anti-Malware and ZoneAlarm Pro (Antivirus and Firewall).

I'll not speak to the legitimacy or safety of that website. I'll let the six strikes system handle legitimacy and your antivirus tools try to keep you safe.

A better tool than net meter might be Process Monitor.

I'm not sure what it could be.

My main concerns would be:
1) what app is causing the network traffic?
2) if the traffic is incoming - where is it being written?
3) if the traffic is outgoing - what data is it and where is it going?
