downloading movies and the like to an external harddrive

hello there ,

I am gonna be off-line for a while in the nearby future so I want to stock up on some movies and TV shows, but also some blogs in a way that I can watch them later.

Wish I could download all my bookmarks, but that will not be possible I am sure.

I know nothing about this, not even where to go to get movies and TV shows to download for free.

Been just watching things on U Tube in the past.

Any help with instructions will be much appreciated ,

Sort of piracy Thelma most content like you describe is for rent or sell from various websites like Amazon/ NetFlix/.....

Some people do use torrents but I have never used one but do know too many of them include malware.... and are more trouble than they are worth.

Best to go to your local walmart... and dive into the .99 bend for movie dvd's

Free stuff always comes with a catch
I've always weighed the pro's and con's and the con's outweigh the pro's

You can buy Amazon prime for roughly 99.us a year and you can stream a lot of content for that price.

Just go to amazon and see what comes with prime subscription and search for the shows you want to see and see if they are included.

NetFlix does not allow anyone to browse content but both do have free 30 day trails

Amazon Prime you can also rent movies... with free shipping I believe plus any products you buy from amazon gets a discount too

Well, I am really staggered !

And how about all these movie apps that I see on my Samsung mobile phone.
Had to buy a new a new phone, the other could not charge anymore. I don't touch any of these app things because I am afraid they will straight away ask money, but I believe a lot of them are free.

Can you not, download movies from your mobile phone to your laptop and then through to external hard drive or USB stick ?

The app maybe free but the service is 100% of the time a subscription which yes will cost you.

Most will not allow downloading to another devise although might allow to view the content on another device as you stream it but gets a tad complicated on a cell phone verses a laptop or notebook to actually get the content to a different screen and actually look good

Ok, Thanks, I give up. It's just that here in Austria there is not much in the big shops of my taste at all.

I will have a go at Amazon tomorrow, see what I find. I am not looking for recent stuff ....

Hi,
One thing to check on before is you internet service provider and see what is you data plan limit
These shows and movies are large files just to stream and could quickly put you in trouble of going over a data limit
So see what you data limit is before they charge you more than you're now paying

As far as offline viewing
The only one I found in my brief tour is itunes that when you buy something from the apple store can actually be viewed without an internet connection
Amazon's can not unless you buy a dvd movie or use the download instead of them sending a dvd

Quite frankly I prefer having the dvd's seeing I also have a dvd player which will always look better than on a pc plus my t.v. is a lot bigger

Well, you see, I am a bit different. I read a lot and listen to music. Have not watched TV for years, don't have one, don't want one.

I see things that interest me (joncks later than all the others) on Y-tube on my heavy massive ancient Laptop.
But for that, you have to be online.
