We're just starting to get Windows 7 clients (on Win 7 Pro x64 right now) on our work network and we've noticed that video streams and downloads seem to randomly stop moments after we start them.

I updated the network card drivers but am still having the issues; has anyone had a similar occurrence?

We've only brought 3 clients online onto the network (all Windows 7 x64 Pro. Dell Optiplex 990's) and they are all exhibiting this problem.

Could you open a command prompt on each machine and post the ipconfig /all so we can see if there are any conflicts. I be back in a while but someone else may see them and help you before I'm back..

Hello,

I'm wondering why the Subnet of your IPV4 Address is 10.101.3.X is different than DHCP Server which is 10.10.1.X. Are all the computers ipconfig /all the same? I think that TCP/IP shd be on the 10.10.1.X Subnet.
Where is automatic addressing coming from?

I'm not sure that would be an issue.... the IPs of the DHCP, DNS and Gateway are all like that too. Because this sounds like an office network, I'd imagine it's something to do with the net admin software on the server side. Some config that really isn't a bad idea, one way or the other. As long as the Subnet mask is the same, and there are no conflicts with a static address, this shouldn't create problems.

To answer the original question, I'd like to suggest that you look at that admin software and find out if there's some limit to streams that you have set. On our Novell Net, we used to limit streams to around 2 mins worth of video when YouTube came out. It tended to overwhelm our gateways.

One way to find out is stream from one computer in your net to another without going to the internet. If you can stream for longer than a few minutes, I'd look to the gateway router settings. If the problem persists inside your network, then the problem is elsewhere.

This is probably the longest I've ever had a Windows machine run without having to restore it to scratch. I'm used to restoring to "factory" about every 2 yrs. I've run with Win7 since new in 2009 and only recently (Nov, '14) restored to clean up the machine from all my 'xperimenting. LOL!! I may never need another machine.

Upgraded to 10 when it was still free, then installed 2017 update.
I showed this information to my network admins and they stated something to the effect of:

"Our network is subnetted class B so having different third octets in client IP and DNS/DHCP should not be the issue."

They also informed me the we don't have any administrative software that can monitor streams between our clients. Any other ideas?

Perhaps try to disable Startup Apps and Services that are not being utilized.
