today, I downloaded the windows 7 upgrade advisor, and the thing that it said was that my NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller was incompatible and that it needed to be upgraded. I checked for upgrades, and mine was current. I did some googling, and no luck. does anybody know if my computer will still work properly, even if this driver is incompatible with windows 7? and does anybody know of any upgrades? I really want windows 7!

Is it working in vista?
If so you can make it work in win 7, usually

Hope this helps

The specs on the upgrade indicate that an upgrade from XP will require a "clean install" which tells me that yes, you can perform a complete install instead of an upgrade. I know the user requested a clean install from vista which was not specifically mentioned. But, I believe it is possible.
However, the upgrade specs indicate the user must have a legitimate copy of XP or Vista installed on that machine. You're basically trading a license of xp/vista (and $50) for a 7 license.
Good deal if you ask me. Better deal would have been for the pre-order retail version....

Heya Wii Master! I saw your screen name on a couple other forums and you never were answered on there, so i think i will make this my home for awhile!

Anyways, i have the upgrade disc (I am a Windows 7 Launch Party host), and i can confirm the option for a CLEAN INSTALL using the upgrade disc. Though there is a catch...

You have to at least have vista installed. Run vista and throw in your disc. When your disc is in, it will give you the option to clean install or upgrade and keep files.

Being in the launch party, i now have 2 copies...i have a 32bit and 64 bit copy of Ultimate.

Ok, thanks for the info, but I figured this out a while back. But, I guess while I'm at it, should I back up all of my drivers or should I just let Windows Update handle them? I'm going with the custom install.
