Hey,
I've been trying to find a driver for Motorola SB5101 cable modem USB driver for Windows 7 x64 for couple months and no luck after all.
The reason that I want to connect the modem trough USB is to connect xbox360 to pc trough ethernet cable ( i dont have any router here :().
Maybe someone know where to find a driver for W7 x64?
Thanks in advance. !

I'm sorry to say that there isn't a Windows 7 x64 compatible driver for this modem.

If you really want it to go through your PC I propose 5 options,
Downgrade (not advisable)
New Modem (expensive)
Plug directly into Xbox 360 with no connection to PC while in Xbox (awkward)
Buy a USB to Ethernet adapter for your PC, so one can be connected to your Xbox 360 and the other to your modem (fairly cheap)
Get an Ethernet hub/router.

None of these are ideal but they're better than nothing.

Oli

EDIT: This is just a shot in the dark but why not try http://www.driverfiles.net/download.php?ID=30479 or possibley try running the Vista drivers, if that doesn't work try compatability mode of the Vista Drivers (http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/SB5101/downloads/2.4.5.1.WHQL_Driver.exe)

Because this product is discontinued there will probably not be any new drivers released for it.

Hi, after further research into driver detective, I don't think it will be of any use for this sort of problem (and as it turns out it isn't free, although I thought it was).

When you say you've tried the Vista drivers do you mean you've pointed Windows to the driver and it didn't like it or did you search Windows update and it couldn't find it? I'm sure you've done it correctly but just make sure after you click "Update Driver..." you click "Browse my computer for driver software" and then point it to where ever you unzipped the driver to.

I downloaded the drivers from Support and Downloads for Current and Discontinued products if that's is of any use.

Also the support number for setting this up is (US) 1-877-466-8646. It might be worth a quick phone call to see what they say about it.

I think the long and short of this is there isn't a way to get this modem working with Windows 7 x64 using USB.

As I posted previously, probably the easiest way forward would be to buy an ethernet hub, I think you can get one for $10 off of Amazon and that would pretty much future proof your modem for any new devices or Operating Systems that you don't yet own.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Unzip the folder, then run the EXE in compatibility mode.
Maybe that will clear about run the EXE thing in compatibility mode

that makes it a bit more difficult , right click on the .inf file and select install reboot the pc go to control panel > add hardware>select from list and choose the modem that should load the modem information into device manager, if it has then right click on it and select update driver

Not sure wether you will have to take ownership of the file and full administrator rights for this to work :(

USB to LAN cable!!!

For Kirill & All of reders,

I know, it's a long time thread, but I have solved about this problem. I think it will be usefull:
No need 64bit driver at all! only just quitely simple step,
replace your USB cable with LAN cable that included on the box of your modem. And than connect your modem and your PC via ethernet plug. And than you just go call your provider to activate or refress your new IP address. The refreshing step may takes 5-10 minutes. Good luck!....

Sorry about my English.... :D
