Drivers Install without restart

I have used the update utility included with my LG laptop called LG Update Center and it didn't restart for most driver updates. I installed a wireless network driver, sound driver, chipset driver, Bluetooth driver but it didn't restart by itself except for the Blutooth one. I manually restarted the computer for each update just in case. I did them one by one. The only one that had a problem before restart was wireless network driver, and I also had to force the computer off while installing because of freezing and reinstalled it because somehow the internet was working anyway. Is it actually possible for drivers to update without restart or is the utility lying? (I also updated the LG software that I absolutely need)

Yes, some drivers or driver updates can be installed and will work fine without a restart, windows will always tell you if it has to be re started

Well, it actually automatically restarted for the Bluetooth driver without telling me. How come most turtorials and some threads in SF say that it restarts after updating? Is this just for a complete new install? Or is it because I used the OEM utility?

The tutorial could be talking about a new install, but the same thing goes, windows will always let you know when it needs to restart for an update.

I guess your oem utility made it restart on it`s own.

Yeah, but I still trust it since it is made by LG and it provides the same drivers as the one on their website. But one odd thing though is some of the drivers that I updated stayed in Optional Windows updates. Why does this happen? Also, the whole reason I am updating is because I am following the steps in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html because my laptop is freezing sometimes for some reason. The cursor can move when it is frozen though, it's just that nothing responds and I have to force it off. I have skipped hardware related steps as I know it is not the hardware not working. I have checked my SSD with CrystalDiskInfo and it is good health. I have done up to step 10 and also did 13. For 7 though, I only disabled programs I don't need at startup and didn't disable any services. I will start another thread if I can't solve this myself. Thanks.
