Hi,

New to the forum and was hoping you may be able to help.

I have a Dell Studio 1737 laptop with ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card. I have a number of DTS WAV files that I would like to play back through my AV Receiver. I have downloaded VLC player (as I believe that will play back the DTS files) but when I connect the laptop to the receiver via HDMI I am only getting stereo sound.

Im pretty sure my graphics card will bitstream the audio via HDMI but I cant figure it out.

I have tried downloading the AC3filter which I have seen mentioned on another forum but it didnt work for me.

Can anyone help?

There are SOME models that will only output two channel stereo. Post your question on the Dell users forum Laptop section and see what those there say. Laptop - Dell Community

Thanks. For some reason though my posts come out blank on the Dell forums!!

In the properties of the 'Realtek HDMI output' it says max channels supported: 2! would that suggest my graphics card wont output 5.1 over HDMI? From what ive read it should do.

Also when I download the Realtek drivers there is no sign of the Realtek audio manager.

Any ideas?
