Hello again, same problem as 4 weeks before. Dual Boot Windwos 7 and Xp. Windows 7 was installed first but today i install fresh original Windows 7 copy... Windows Xp (partiton F NTLDR error.

I'm not sure if must be NTLDR, NTDETECT and boot.ini at C: with Win7 or F: with Xp.
Sure, hide files are opened but still no files in C. There is only bootmgr.
I'll try copy files NTLDR and NTDETECT from WinXp CD at disc with Windows Xp... nothing happend.

What i need to do? Thx

Try this,

> Boot from your Win 7 DVD
> Open Win RE by clicking on "Repair your Computer"
> Select on CMD or command Prompt
> TYPE bootsect /nt60 all
note: if the command does not work, look for the DVD/CD ROM Drive. Change to that drive and go to the boot directory. Then type the same command

> Type bcdedit /create {ntldr} /d "Windows XP"
> Type bcdedit /set {ntldr} device partition=c:
> Type bcdedit /set {ntldr} path \ntldr
> Type bcdedit /displayorder {ntldr} /addlast
> Type Exit

Restart PC....:D

Did you boot from the WIn7 installer and format the C: partition before reinstalling Windows 7?

It should have configured the dual boot correctly unless another HDD was plugged in besides C; and F:

If you can boot into Win7 now, then please post a screenshot of your entire Disk Management map, using the Snipping Tool on Start>Programs menu. Attach file in the reply box here using paper clip.

Problem fixed with EasyBCD 2.0
EasyBCD create new boot.ini, ntlrd amd ntdetect at drive C (win7)
I was just copied this files on drive F (winXp) and booting working.

Thx sevenforums... cheers

The problem was the Music storage drive being marked as active during the isntall.

Another reason to unplug all data drives during install.

You might want to move the files off your music drive and format it as a data drive should never be marked Active. It can confuse the boot.

kk, thanks for info greg

Now that you recovered the dual boot, check Disk Management again to see if the Music partition is still marked Active and if so, you can just download Partition Wizard, right click on Music partition and Modify>set as inactive.
