Dual Monitor Hard Crash

Hey,
I've never posted here so if I'm doing something wrong, sorry about that.
So, when ever I have my second monitor plugged in it works perfectly but sometimes (maybe once every 3 days) my computer will just hard freeze, no sound, no mouse movement and the screen is a still picture of what I was doing. When I unplug the second monitor this doesn't happen.The pattern for these crashes are totally random, sometimes when I'm playing games on one monitor and a YouTube video on the other, or just when I'm on the internet and the other monitor is looking at my desktop.

My CPU temps are the exact same with or without the second screen (about 45-50 degrees).
My GPU is an MSI 970 so it definitely has the power for two screens.
My RAM is perfectly normal.

80% of the crashes are hard crashes, 10% is a blue screen and its only on for a split second before I can record what its saying and the other 10% is an instant black screen and my pc restarts and acts like nothing happened.

I am using the second monitor via VGA cable into a DVI adapter into my GPU (As my GPU doesn't have a VGA port).

I get an error in the event manager under the critical tab too but I'm not going to paste it until I get a response.
