Dual monitor Problems

Hi there,

So the problem as stated in the title is that i can't get both monitors to work.

Specs:

Graphic Card: ATI HD 5850
MB: ASUS m4a79t deluxe
Monitor 1: lg flatron w2253TQ
Monitor 2: panasonic tx-l19x10e

Story:

So my system as been runing for 4.5 years without any major issues (Including both monitors working fine).
One day suddenly the PC didn't POST at all and i went full yolo on understanding the root of the problem (without success). I tried almost everthing during 3 days (testing each hardware piece, checking the connections, reseted the bios, etc...) and somehow when i was about to take the pc to someone with hardware pieces to test it i took a last try to turn it on and...boom the pc cameback to life!!! Don't know how i did it but i did and now the pc is working for more than 1 week without any issues.

The Problem:

Well before this problem i had dual monitor without problems, after the problem the 2nd monitor doesn't give image at all. The second monitor is connected through a Vga to Dvi adpater and i suspected that somehow the cable was the problem because the pc detects the monitor but doesnt display any image on the 2nd monitor (even if i take a PRTSCN both desktops show up in extended mode) so i got my hands on a new VGA cable and... that wasnt the issue... then i tried a hdmi-hdmi cable and nothing... i tried the monitor on a laptop borrowed to a friend and nothing... both dvi ports work fine since monitor 1 works on both slots so it all comes to either the bios settings/software or the monitor simply died ( Althrough the TV still works on the 2nd monitor since it's both TV/PC ).

Next Step:

Well my next step will be trying another monitor on this system but i will not be able to do that for a couple of days and before i give up on the current monitor i want all the help i can get here :)

Thanks in advance for your help!

If the monitor didn't work on another computer, it has likely died. The TV portion of the monitor uses a different pathway to get its signal (cable => tuner => screen), so that might be why it's working. The monitor may have lost its "Monitor in" input and that's why it isn't working.

You'll know for sure when you try another monitor on it in a couple of days. Does the 2nd monitor work on any output from the video card with monitor 1 disconnected?

Hi Mellon,

Unfortunently i tried that already and the monitor didn't work by himself on any of the outputs.

The probability that the pc output died is very high atm but it's also strange because when the POST problems happened the pc still randomly POSTed like 4 times but as soon as i turned off and on the pc would stop POSTing again (meanwhile the dual monitor was working). It was after i reseted the bios that the dual monitor stopped working (but i'm pretty sure that the reset didn't solve any problems) and for that reason i thought that the bios settings were the reason for the dual monitor stopped working.

Since i usually don't mess arround with the bios settings i was expecting that someone here could confirm that i had all the correct bios settings.

Thanks in advance!
