I have dual monitors installed on a computer at work. I have been trying to get the monitors to work together. The right monitor is working like a dream and the other one just sits there with no picture. The computer will find the monitor thats not working but the computer cannot identify it. All that I have been trying to do is extend the screen to both monitors for use. I have tried switching cables, switching video cards and nothing really seems to work. My next guess was to go into the registry, but figured i would see if I could get a reply faster here. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Would help to know the make and model of the monitors, how they are each connected, and to what video card they are connected to.

Both monitors are I-Inc monitors and they are both connected using a dvi cable. The video cards are ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series.

The connections to both monitors must usually be made via the GPU card connectors and not the mobo and one of the GPU connectors please double check to see how you have connected yours.
HPIM0942.JPG
Note the dual dvi on the card and one on the mobo as shown.
Double check in the bios if the GPU card is the default device and then connect both to the GPU outs then double check the powercord and on buttons and report back.

The cards configured for Crossfire or are they set to run as two single cards?

Also have the driver for the cards installed or just using the default Windows driver?

I've got a similar problem, only one of the DVI outs on my 6870 works, and only one monitor displays. Both monitors work, but again, only one DVI port seems to work.

It's not quite top of the line, but damned if it ain't gettin REAL close.
The cards are configured for Crossfire, and I have gotten the new drivers off of MSI's website.

Jericho are you sure that is the port? I have tried to change cables, changed video card slots, and just about everything else and nothing has really worked for me.

I've only got a single 6870. Both monitors work, and on just the one DVI port. I can't use the HDMI out as I don't have an extension, and I can't use the eyefinity, as I don't have the adapter. The second DVI out on my 6870 just does not want to work.

Have you tried switching the good monitors cable at the monitor and plugging it into the other monitor to see if it works? Is the monitor set for the correct DVI input on it's settings?

Both connected to one card, or one on each? Also just get the drivers directly from AMD. MSI doesn't do anything to them other than to change the installer to include their name in it, the driver is identical to the one from AMD, and if MSI is anything like Asus newer as well.

Jericho starting your own thread would be much better than helping you here. All it does is add to confusion between the original thread starter and anyone else looking for help.
