Duplicates of (some) files in My Music Folder

Hey,

So I'm having an issue with some of the files being duplicated in my music folder. I've noticed that only the first 20-30 artists have been duplicated.
What has happened is:
The originals are still there, however the contents inside (so the albums of the artist) have duplicated/cloned into my music folder.
So I can find the album Razors Edge in :Users\--\Music\ACDC and in :Users\--\Music

When I go to options in Razors Edge album in :Users\--\Music, it says that the location is actually :Users\--\Music\ACDC. So it's as if both point to the same location.
However, when I delete the duplicate (the album that's just in My Music folder), the deletes the original (in My Music\ACDC\Razors Edge) and then the song won't play at all in Itunes or Windows Media. Then when I restore the album from Recycling Bin, it works.
Additionally, Itunes says that there are no duplicates... >.>

I would also like to add: when I copy ACDC from My Music onto my desktop, the duplicates remain in My Music. When I try to copy the duplicates into my ACDC folder, it says "The destination folder is the same as the source folder". When I delete the duplicate files, it still deletes the originals that or on the desktop. No idea how to resolve this.

I tried to explain as best as I could, if you have any idea what's going on/need more clarification, let me know.
Thanks in Advance.

I would try 2 things:

1. go to WMP and see whether they are duplicates there too. If yes, try to delete the duplicate there.

2. If you can make a copy of the originals only to another folder (e.g. in Documents or on an external device), copy all the originals and delete what you have now. Then get the originals back from where you copied them to.

Unfortunately, neither technique worked.

WMP and Itunes both show one file.

When I deleted ACDC from MyMusic, all the duplicate albums in My Music also got deleted. When I copied the back-up version I had on my external harddrive, ACDC folder copied back, but for some reason, Razors Edge album automatically put itself into My Music, even though it should only be in the ACDC folder.

I think the problem might be with Itunes or WMP (most likely Itunes). I think when it searches for the music, it copies it automatically.
The problem is I don't want to delete all my folders because then adding lyrics, album covers, etc will take forever again. I just thought there might be some kind of problem with linking or connecting this in the property settings.

From my experience having iTunes with WMP can do strange things. Since WMP did some wonky things to my music folders I've learned to get the two program to coexist. Basically by never playing anything in WMP.

In your case since you only have copies of a portion of your music there has to be a common denominator, a reason why only those albums got copied. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've found a sort-of solution. Basically delete all ACDC files from My Music, Itunes and WMP.
Then copy it back from external harddrive as ACDC2 not ACDC and the computer doesn't clone the albums anymore. No idea why... it's just annoying, cause now I have to add these songs back into Itunes... for every single artist that got cloned.
If anyone know a short way or problem with this let me know! It's most likely a problem with Itunes anyways.

Ex: Find these pathways via properties > general > location

Original Folder C:\Users\xyz\Music
Original Razor Edge C:\Users\xyz\Music\ACDC

Cloned Razor Edge C:\Users\xyz\Music\ACDC
** same location even though it's actually at C:\Users\xyz\Music

I think I'll just throw my computer out the window.
