Solved DVD Burner Will Not Read Discs Burned On It

For Real.....Just burned another music DVD. Was not recognized after loading in the tray.
Burned with CDBurnerXP, all well. Ejected the DVD, closed the program, inserted the DVD and the light flashed for a minute or so, then nothing. Also no recognition of the DVD drive in explorer. It is seen in the BIOS and listed when booting.
Took the freshly burned DVD to another system with XP and it was seen immediately and played perfectly. At first, I thought I got several coasters because all of a sudden the drive started to work.
However, when something else must be amiss when I can burn, but not see or play the disc in the same drive. Another quirk is I have many DVDs burned on this drive and NONE of them will now play when before I always check to make sure the burn was good.
Have done the following;
system restore
checked device manager. Says the burner is operating properly.
uninstalled the driver, reinstalled the driver.

The drive is a TSSTcorp (Toshiba) CD-DVDW and is about five years old.

Would like some suggestions to move me in the right direction.

No filter entries were present. Put in the sub-key, restarted, the shut down to be sure --- No Joy.
Have already removed driver.
Any other ideas ??

It has a drive letter assigned, right? If not check Disk Management.

it could be that the drive is going bad. they are not to expensive to replace

Yes, drive is labeled D:
That's why I'm here. Hoping to resolve the issue as being windows related or a bad drive.
I ran the "Fix-it" from Microsoft and it kept asking for me to put in readable media. How about a movie I just watched last night !!! Fix-It kept saying to put in a DVD that was readable.
Would it be worth buying a lens cleaning disc ??
