DVD Drives stopped working

Hi,

First of all, I'm sorry if my thread is not in a right category.

I have got problem with my DVD Drive since last night.

1. I can't open the DVD Drive.
2. There's no light flash.
3. The computer didn't detect the DVD.
4. Can't play the CD/DVD. It seems it has stop functioning or maybe blocked by the system.

I really don't know what to do. I'm really panic. I bet, maybe there's something has to do with the Roxio or maybe no, might be else.

I really need your help to solve these problems. Thanks in advanced.

What has changed since the last time this worked for you?

Can you see the device in your device management?

I had this problem recently, I had to update the DVD driver which is unusual in a windows environment...

Hi ClassicD,

I'm not quite sure what has changed. But yes, I can see the device. The problem is I can't open my DVD Driver and it doesn't show any light. You know, when we open the DVD Drive, there's light show up. But now, it seems everything (in DVD Drive) has stopped working like what I mentioned at the earlier post.

Maybe the drive failed and needs to be replaced.
Shut down the PC, turn it back on and press the eject button to see if you can get the tray to open.
DVD drives can fail without warning, my BluRay/HD-DVD drive failed on me 10 days ago, and I have had countless other DVD drives just die, seems like they last 1 -2 years, no matter what brand they are.

EDIT: I re-read your original post, when you say you can't open the DVD, do you mean from Explorer or do you mean open the tray to the DVD drive?

Hi

Goto your Device manager for the name of the Drive and use a search engine for a driver, alternatively if your system is OEM use one of their sites. For example if you have a samsung R720, Search for R720 device drivers..



Its a pretty easy process...

Your screenshot is about Bluetooth? I thought your problem was your DVD drive?

I ran the software that fix for DVD (forgot the name of the software) and then, that (in the screenshot) appears.

Is it possible to post a screenshot of your device manager and expand DVD/CD-ROM drives link? if at all possible.

Have you considered the fact that it may be a faulty drive and may need replaced? Is this a laptop drive?
