DVI vs RGB on video cards ?

What are the pros and cons of digital vs analog ports on video cards. I'm a non-gamer that uses some graphics programs at times (Photoshop, etc)

Does it matter much whether I use a dvi slotted card or analog or dvi/analog combo card ?

Digital gives better color range and allows additional features. Use the DVI, HDMI, or Displayport connections, don't use analog if you can avoid it.

Thanks..one more question on video...I know there are adapters for vga/rgb cables to attach to DVI ports and/or monitors and visa-versa.

For the HDMI port...can you attach a DVI monitor to this port via a similar adapter...or a HDMI cable from an HDMI port to a DVI monitor via adapter ?

Do you loose the HDMI benefits...but at least maintain a good DVI output on the monitor ?

There are HDMI-DVI adapters available. The HDMI signal is the same as the DVI signal, with the addition that HDMI also carries the audio signal.
