DXGI.DLL error related to Windows Live Movie Maker

Funny, you should reply. Just finished the repair install. I did it via a USB. My mouse is acting slow and weird. I didn't do the last step of activating Windows. I want to check windows.old to see what is there, not sure how to determine what I would want to keep before a disk cleanup. So far so good. I may try to install Windows Live Movie Maker. One other thing, I may have to redo my network connection for wireless.

How are things at the moment? Mouse behavior better? Network working as it should?

So far everything is going well except the touchpad, acting a little strange like enlarging and shrinking things or opening items when I go over them or as I am scrolling it goes back a page. I didn't have luck with figuring out what to do with settings yet. Network is fine. I still have to do the disk cleanup. I don't think any of my user files are missing. I have them backed up. Then, I will load Windows Live Movie Maker tomorrow.

Thanks for asking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should probably install the touchpad driver from the vendor's site. acer driver downloads and choose either the Synaptics or Touchpad driver depending on what you had before.

That will allow you to change touchpad settings to stop strange behavior from happening with the pad.

I went to site: they have two touchpad drivers, one is ALPS and the other Synaptics. It says I have ALPS when I go into mouse settings so that's the one I updated. It reinstalled the driver, message was that I am already updated. I am using a friend's netbook until this gets fixed.

I am now thinking to add both drivers??? I think I took care of the touchpad, I played with "tapping". Found it works if I disable it, and if I put it up to "fast". I would love to know how to turn off the magnifying glass and a box and just go back to the plain cursor.

Today, was my first day after installing windows updates. I think there were 143 (some may have failed) but my new problem is first it wouldn't shut down and I had to Power OFF and now it won't startup...stuck at starting windows page.

HELP.

The first steps to do are:
  1. Use http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html to choose Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)...
  2. If that does not work, use the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html to choose Repair Your Computer...
  3. In the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html, choose System Restore...
  4. Go through the steps in OPTION TWO of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html...

If the above still does not allow you to start Windows, proceed with http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html.

Strange. I think it was the updates that needed to be configured. Now, it isn't bad. I am on it right now.

Thanks.

Today the touchpad is acting up again. I did install ALPS driver from website (see my earlier post). Any ideas? Not a good day, got a call from police, my neighbor's husband shot himself on the golf course. I spent the morning with her. So my problem seems so minor.

Sorry to hear that about your neighbor. :(

Did you have problems with the touchpad previous to the re-install?

We may need to check that the repair install fixed Windows properly:

Interesting that previous to the install, the cursor would jump around from time to time (not every use) and a restart took care of it. Now, it is a different sort of irritation, it isn't constant, freezes up, or shrinks things. I have the latest update for driver from Acer. Ran the SFC/ SCANNOW AND there were no integrity violations. So, it is a mystery, I am holding off on downloading Windows Live Moviemaker and working on my sister's video tribute.

P.S. How do you access option 3 if there are errors. I don't remember that when I first ran it prior to the install and got errors.

OPTION THREE of the tutorial; not OPTION THREE of sfc. The tutorial has three options, and the third gives instructions on what to do if sfc returns errors.
