Hello,

Sr. Citizen now, so please put up with me a bit. Doesn't seem to get any easier with age.

Have some short video clips I took with a small handheld camera.

I remember years ago I used Windows LIVE Media Player to edit them, I think, to remove the scenes
that didn't come out too well.

I tried to download it to my PC again as the program seems to have disappeared on my PC.

All I can do, apparently is perhaps to load the full Windows Essentials package, which, apparently also loads a whole load of other "stuff" that I don't want. Seems also to "take over" other functions.

Question: a. Can anyone suggest a link to download a clean Windows Live Movie maker Only, without a
lot of add-ons ?

b. It doesn't seem like it is a very big program. Could someone, perhaps, just sent it to me ?
Would be most grateful ? Will be happy to send my eMail if anyone can ?

c. Are there other, or better, free, programs to do what I want ?
Basically, just to edit out some sections, and then put the edited copy on my PC.
Possibly, also, to make a DVD

Thanks for help; really appreciate it.

Bob

From OP For Andrew

Hello,

Thanks for help.

When I go to the site you suggested, and tried to install, it asks
me to Accept an add on called Lasaoron. Huh ?

Seems to be another Browser and Search Engine that I surely don't want.

Funny, as the site seems to be from MS, but really isn't, apparently.

Any thoughts on ?
Isn't there a "clean' download of MS Live movie maker somewhere ?

Thanks again for help; really appreciated.

The site I gave you is from microsoft.

Just like I suspected, your infected with malware. How do I know? You are being offered things that are not there. You are most likely infected with spyware that is redirecting you to the wrong sites. Or flashing ads and banners at you.

Lets begin malware removal:

1.) Download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool

  • Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
  • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
  • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
  • Upload the contents of that logfile in your next reply using the paper clip on the reply box.
  • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

2.) Using AdwCleaner v3: Scan & Clean:

Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool again.
Click on the Scan button.
AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer like it did before.
After the scan has finished...

This time click on the Clean button.
Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
Upload the contents of that logfile in your next reply using the paper clip on the reply box.

Junkware Removal tool:

3.) Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

  • Shutdown your antivirus to avoid any conflicts.
  • Right click over JRT.exe and select Run as administrator on Windows Vista or Windows 7, double-click on XP.
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Upload the contents of that logfile in your next reply using the paper clip on the reply box.
  • When completed make sure to re-enable your antivirus
