Solved E-Readers

Given the reviews on their own site, I wouldn't go anywhere near one - Barnes & Noble | Customer Reviews | NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight by Barnes & Noble

IMO for an e-reader the Kindle has always got to be the best bet, ok they may slightly dearer but you know they (Amazon) will always have support unlike Barnes and Noble or others that could go bust or discontinue at any time.

Thank you very much z3r010

A warning about the Nook. Barnes and Noble are having sales problems with the Nook and its e-book store. Most experts are predicting its demise. If that does happen, the nook e-books would be unreadable after the you device died. Also, Nook's DRM is tied to the credit card number used to purchase it. Once the card expires, you would have to keep track of its number to access your books.

Although I personally do not like the Kindle e-readers and it's highly unlikely I will ever own one, it is still the most popular brand, with the Paperwhite currently in the lead. Amazon's Kindle bookstore is the largest one readily available. Despite my dislike of Kindles and Amazon's own little walled garden, they are still what I recommend to most people because of the store's wide selection of books and the Kindles' ease of use. Kindle e-book readers and e-books are pretty much plug and play when used together. Plus, there are apps that will allow one to read their Kindle books on their PCs, android devices (phones and tablets), and iOS devices (iPhones, iPads, and Macs).

Thank you Lady Fitzgerald

The two last posts changes things quite a lot ! - Thank you.

Hopefully the nook i bought for lois will last her a while,
i notice a lot of the reviews were for last year so im hoping any issues will have been sorted out.
i cant say much about whether B&N will be in business in the future but one can only hope.
thanks for the heads up about the expiring card numbers.
it seems that the kindle is the best avenue then.
sometimes you just have to go with the size of your wallet.
fingers crossed its not a duffer.

Hi Dinesh yes but I did want a separate device to use at work (when I'm sat in my office watching the ullage levels when a tanker delivers - can take ages :))

Glad you're sorted out with your e-reader Steph. I like my Kindle app that I've got on my Notebook, as I said I don't need to be portable although I could get the app on my Smartphone if I wanted to but have no need to.

Happy reading. ;)

There's a card in it Steph but when going through it to try and free up memory it tells you there's nothing to move to the card, I have put some things onto the card.
This is an older version HTC, the Wildfire S, I've heard it's 1 of the complaints about this phone the Internal memory.
