Easy way to share large files online?

I recently faced a dilemma. I had three ZIP archives with pictures & videos I took during the trip that I wanted to share with a group of people. Sizes of those files were as follows:

1. 93 MB
2. 240 MB
3. 70 MB

I first tried uploading it to major cloud service providers (Google Drive, Microsoft's Skydrive) but even though uploading those files was not a problem, downloading them was. A user on the other end was required to sign up for an appropriate service (Google or Microsoft account) to be able to download them.

So in light of that I became interested to find out if there's a service that would allow me to share my files without the need for people on the other end (downloaders) to sign up for any service?

They all make you sign up for something these days, Drop box might work better for you but that is hard to say for certain. https://www.dropbox.com/

You could download Filezilla and set up an FTP server. There is alot of good documentation and it's free. You can disable it when you are done with the transfer and you will have a fun project to do

The problem with setting up your own ftp server is that most ISPs will not permit operating a server with a standard account. In most cases you would need a business account. Check with your ISP first if you are contemplating this.

This is true, I didn't ask first when I set mine up I noticed in my case they just changed / renewed my public IP address frequently, in what I assume was an attempt to disrupt access to my server. Other ISPs may not be so nice, or may not care. They are fun projects but like LMiller said the usual caveats apply (ask permission first, don't share copyrighted material etc)

Your router will most likely be configured to obtain a public IP address from your ISP via DHCP therefore the address changed

You can pay them money to get a static one
