I have an old ehome remote from XP MCE and is not working
The receiver is plugged in and the device manager has it listed in the "Unspecified" category labeled as "Microsoft IR Transceiver"

From what I read the drivers are the same as everyone else:
C:\Windows\system32\CIRCoInst.dll
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\usbcir.sys

device status is working properly

but in MCE not a single button works, the light on the receiver shows it is getting a signal when I push the button, but nothing happens.

Am I missing something?

I am running Win7 Ultimate.

I also have the same problem and have found no help as of yet. I know my remote and receiver worked on this machine with MCE2005. I even went as far as to do a clean install of Win7 on a spare computer same thing!

Changes were made in Vista (and in Windows 7) for WMC.

1) XP did not include the codec needed. Vista and W7 do.
2) A fundamental change in how the remotes work means you will need to have a Vista/W7 capable MCE Remote. This remote will also work with your XBox.

I am using WinTV-HVR-1850 Media Center Kit Product description
for my TV Tuner which comes with the remote and receiver - both Vista and W7 will recognize it and install all drivers.

The Vista/W7 remote will not work with old MCE TV Tuners.

DrOrange, please provide your hardware spec.'s so we may ascertain and discuss how you have come to this conclusion.

I am not at all convinced that this will resolve the issue with an XP MCE remote.

This has been written about extensively in this forum and others. Some OEM provided remotes that were designed for Vista and worked with XP will work with Windows 7, but an XP designed remote will not work by turning on a service that should be on by default.
