Electric shock from iPod Touch

Over the past few days, i've noticed that my iPod has been decharging alot quicker than usual. I plugged it into my PC via USB today and when I picked it up, it was 'live'. I got a small electric shock from it.

Any ideas?

The low battery problem often occurs when you have too many apps running in the background, or your battery is not holding all it's charge anymore. The electric shock however, I have no idea how it happened and it's not supposed to happen. You could go to an apple store and see what they think.

How do you stop an app from running in the background?

Your battery is probably just not able to hold as much of a charge as it could before, which is going to happen no matter what you do. The shock had two likely possibilities. 1) it was just a static shock. 2) your ipod has an electrical problem. If you live near an Apple store I would go there and ask.

The shock stopped after I unplugged the USB. I've done a full restore, just in case.

Isn't the case on the iPod Touch plastic? If so, electric shock not possible. In addition, USB port is 5vdc, not enough voltage to cause a shock, you might feel a tingle if you touched your tongue to it but you won't feel it with your hands/fingers.

Before someone jumps in to say that it's the current that you need to worry about, not the voltage, let me point out that how much current flows is determined by the voltage and the resistance. I=V/R. 5vdc divided by your skin resistance (typically 100K to 1M ohms, depending on whether your skin is wet) means less than .05 milliamps of current flow, not enough for you to feel.

My guess is you got some sort of a static shock.
