elevated command prompt fails

If i try and use cmd from within the start menu ,in accessories and right click ,then "Run as administrator",all i am granted is normal cmd usage e.g(C:\Users\(User Name ).Now,i then pinned cmd to the start menu and again i tried to "run as administrator",but this time cmd fails to open at all.

The only way i am able to run cmd with administrator access is by using the start search box and entering cmd from there ,and right click ,run as administrator!

I have set my command prompt from the start menu to ALWAYS run as administrator:

Start menu
command prompt
right click
properties
shortcut
advanced
put a check in "run as adminstrator" checkbox.

I dunno about getting that to the taskbar. Maybe it is doable?

I followed your good advice ,but,even with that check box checked,i still only get given (C:\Users\(User Name),instead of the expected C:\Windows\System32 . ?

Note that the target of my shortcut is system32.

Not sure why your's is different. Are you accessing it from start menu??

Can you manually change target??

Type cmd into the start menu, press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

When highlighting the cmd with my mouse pointer and then pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter,well this just makes that window disappear !

Will it make a difference if it is ran from with windows 7,as i have done just that and nothing wrong was found,if not how do you access windows 7 safe mode ,F8 during boot up ?

I don't know about pinning it to the Taskbar, but I keep it on the Quick Launch and it works fine.
