Hi,

I use Tor with Thunderbird but I think if it's necessary, because my email use IMAP with SSL/TSL and SMTP with TSL.

I use Tor with Firefox and Goolge over SSL (https://encrypted.google.com/) for research with extension HTTPS-Everywhere, because HTTP don't use encryption, but email provide encryption SSL/TSL for POP/IMAP and SMTP.

Someone who knows in detail the Tor really know if it is necessary to use with Thunderbird or another email client?

I ask that because Tor with Thunderbird is slow and I have broadband for access the Internet!

while SSL provides encryption. So they do different things. So if you use SSL without TOR it's like making a traceable phone call speaking gibberish, whereas if you use TOR without SSL it's like making an easy to understand phone call that can't be traced. If you use both no one can tell what you said or where you were when you said it.

If I use broadband for access email without Tor (because it is slow) my fear is somebody uses a sniff or other software for analyze my ip address and intercept my connection and read my emails or intercept packages of my connection and use a software to analyze the content (Google searches, browser links, ftp transfers, IM messages, torrent transfers, and other protocols).

Is it possible?

I don't worry about who or where I am. I worry about the content.

Is possible to use a software like Wireshark to put my ip and discover what I do in Internet? I use cable modem to access the Internet.
