I recommend PC Linux (yes I know its Ubuntu based) because it has an easy to use windows like GUI. It runs quite smoothly and who knows you might like it. I would also recommend running a virus/malware scan with a bootable rescue cd such as Kasperski or AVG Rescue. A bootable CD means Otherwise in use files will be free to scan and repair. All are free to use.
