With each new EQ added there's a corresponding Binary Value added to the key.

Well, you certainly seem to have found the right thing, if these entries represent four separate saved EQ items.

However note that your Registry entry is of a REG_BINARY item, whereas my Registry entry is only a REG_SZ item. Your items actually show "values" contained within it (as would be expected for an entry of this type), whereas mine only shows the "name" of the EQ.

Under what structure is your REG_BINARY item found? What is the complete location?

It would seem that my REG_SZ items, with the suffixes of ",0" and ",1" would perhaps be "subscripts (or indices)" into the second set of REG_BINARY items (like yours)... if only I knew where to look for them.

So again, ... where are your REG_BINARY items located?

No wonder I could never find it. I was looking for things under "Realtek", or something that showed up as the custom name I'd saved the EQ under.

Did not think to look for "\MMDevices\Audio\Render\ or "FXProperties".

BRILLIANT!!! Keys saved, and now restored forevermore across new driver upgrades!

So why did it take us SO LONG to find? Group-think works.


Note: Realtek would certainly have made our manual effort considerably easier if they would have provided a "digital" readout of the +/- adjustment on any slider... either by a flyout when you passed the cursor over that slider or with a number presented at the top of that slider's column. That way at least we'd be able to write down our "digital EQ settings" and recreate them perfectly the next time we had to.

As it is now (before this new knowledge of what/where the Registry key is which contains the actual EQ slider settings), we have to take a screenshot, and then reproduce it approximately by visual aids only if we have to rebuild it.

Oh well. EXPORT / IMPORT to the rescue.

HDMI Reatek eq

So, I upgraded the Realtek driver. The equalizer button does appear now, but only for the optical audio out. HDMI still does not have the equalizer option.

Is there some reason that HDMI doesn't have the eq? Is there anyone that has been able to get the equalizer working for their HDMI out?

My HDMI port is integrated on my Gigabyte motherboard.

For those of you that may have the problem I stated above (HDMI sound output still does not have equalizer after upgrading the realtek audio drivers):

Upgrade the ATI HDMI audio driver by downloading the driver off of the Realtek website. i.e. there are two driver downloads that you'll need, the Realtek driver set (currently R2.48) and the ATI HDMI driver which is posted on the same page (currently R2.42). ATI does not seem to have this driver, it is only available off the Realtek website.
