Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred

Hello,

I recently switched out an older Netgear router for the Netgear WNDR3300. I have a 1TB WD MyBookWorld connected via ethernet to the router. Ever since the router switch I have been having two specifice issues:

1. While uploading videos to Facebook, the video will upload anywhere from several MB up to over 100 MB, then stall, saying it's still uploading but trust me, it isn't.
2. I can copy files/folders from the networked hard drive to my computer flawlessly, but when I try to copy files/folders from my computer to the networked hard drive, it copies anywhere from a few seconds to maybe a couple minutes then stalls out, giving the error message:

"Network Error. There was a problem accessing [\\SERVER\FOLDER]... Make sure you are connected to the network and try again." with Retry, Skip and Cancel. When cancel is pressed it gives: "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred.

Other useful information: on the new router, the WNDR3300, if I use WEP security, I can copy files/folders to the hard drive, no problem. However if I try to use WPA/WPA2, the abovementioned problems occur. I would use WEP and just forget the hassle, but WPA2 is much faster and more secure, so I really want to get this fixed.

I also believe the two problems are somehow related, considering they both involve working for a few seconds to a few minutes, then stalling and failing. Could this be somekind of authentication or something to do with WPA/WPA2 that I'm doing wrong?

Any help/suggestions/SOLUTIONS are very appreciated as this has been on my nerves like crazy!

Hmmmm, Tough Problem.

One of the things it could be is a loose connection, and it keeps on dropping out. Try checking all of your Patch (Ethernet) Cables and reconnecting them all.

As you can copy the files on WEP, it seems like windows is preventing a so called 'Hacker' (You) from copying a 'Virus' (Files) onto the HD. Try to edit the security settings yourself, edit the sharing options in the HD's properties and that might fix it...

Disable your AntiVirus and Firewall...just as a test...could be that "something" (application-wise) is blocking/interfering with your transfers...

A quick possible solution, if you are copying a single, large file (>4GB) be aware that if they drive is formatted in FAT32 this error will be displayed near the end of the copying sequence.

I was having this issue, about to pull out my hair until I realised what was wrong.
