I've had this controller a few months now working in Raid 0 with 2 Crucial 128gig without problem. Then i acquired 2 OCZ Vector's 256gig and planned to do the same:-
its only with these drives in RAID 0 with "Rocket 640L" that i have the issue (error code 0x80070057 when trying to install Ultimate 64 bit). Yet they work fine singly on the Rocket 640L or using my MotherBoard controllers in Raid 0. Windows install doesn't get past 0% before the error occurs. I have tryd booting from my Crucial drives on MB controller with the Vector's as slaves/storage on the Rocket 640L in RAID 0 and they cant be written too or formatted either way.

Having looked up Sevenforums and OCZ forums to troubleshoot this for the last few days i'm pulling my hair out can't get this to work. Have tryd setting Bios to defaults, pulling out all my other drives an USB's except my CD/DVD drive to boot windows disk, have switched ports replaced cables and i'm no closer to solving this. Any help would be appreciated as i'm completely baffled by it. :banghead:

We see nothing but problems here with RAID, ever since beta. These problems are always resolved by setting SATA controller to AHCI and removing all but the target HD for install.

Is there a specific reason why you need RAID? It really confers no benefits since many users lose everything if they lose a single HD. Better to use a modern imaging suite and real time backup similar to Sync, Backup and Store your Files to the Cloud with Skydrive - Windows 7 Forums.

One thing you can try is to preformat an Active partition using Step 2.2 of SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation which can overcome most install problems.

If the error occurs again, post back the verbatim error message. You can also google it at the same time to read how others have resolved it.

Thanks so much for the speedy response, hoping to get time this week to try out the suggestions.

The reason for the Rocket 640L and Raid 0 for the drives is mainly for the speed benefit over the Motherboard which has an early version of Marvel Sata3 6G and is in fact performs worst than the Intel Sata2 3G ports (can't remember exactly but their ain't enough lanes dedicated to the controllers bandwidth to get the speeds). The Rocket 640L has 2 Marvel controllers which doesn't bottleneck if u use 2 out of the 4 ports on it. Was hoping the Raid-card with the Vectors would give me a similar leap in performance as it did for my older Crucial SSD's.

For reference on the MB in Raid 0 the Marvel Sata3 6g ports i get 329mb Read and 224mb Write,. Intel Sata2 3g ports 456mb Read and 483mb Write. I did manage to get a single Vector to work on the Rocket 640L which gave me 493mb Read and 495mb Write much closer to their rated speed (550mb Read/530mb Write) given that windows was running.

The fact that i can get a single drive to work and not in Raid 0 is the part that baffles me, as i have tryed multiple times setting the Sata controller to both Raid and AHCI mode as suggested.
