Hello,

I built a new computer over the weekend and installed a legitimate copy of Windows 7 Home Premium x64. After activating, I've been running through the updates and hit a few snags along the way. I was able to Google my way to solutions for the first couple error codes, but this last one is eluding me.

KB2619339 and KB2698365 both generate a Code 8024200D when I try to install them through Windows Update, either individually or together. All other updates are installed.

I have attempted the following:

1. Running the System Update Readiness Tool.
2. Running sfc /scannow (no problems found).
3. Running the automated troubleshooter ("Fix problems with Windows Update").
4. Manually installing each patch from the KB articles directly. When I do this, I get an error stating "The update is not applicable to your computer".
5. Disabling all startup items and services (except Windows Update) in msconfig.
6. Manually running each step here to reset the Windows Update components.

Any assistance you might be able to provide would be deeply appreciated.

That error message is usually solved by installing the updates from the standalone downloads - there are no obvious problems in either your CheckSUR or CBS logs.
However, you say that you've already tried that, and it returned as 'not applicable'.
This can be for a couple of resons.
1) you downloaded the 32-bit version, while you needed the 64-bit version
2) the update is actually installed already - but WU thinks it isn't
3) The update has been superceded by another one.

Is RDS-based applications crash in Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 installed?
If so, then this probably supercedes KB2698365

I haven't found any updates for KB2619339 (yet) - but have you got media center disabled/uninstalled?

How ridiculous. I've worked on computers since I was a little kid; I've made my living as a computer tech and software dev. I'm the guy everyone I know comes to for computer help. OF COURSE I downloaded the x64 --

Oh.

Well then.

Thank you for pointing out my ridiculous oversight; sorry for wasting your time!
