G'day guys. As the title says I've been getting an 80073712 error while trying to install some updates.

Updates and errors:
Important:
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3068708). Published 9/06/2015

Optional:
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2574819). Published 10/09/2013
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2592687). Published 10/09/2013
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2830477). Published 11/02/2014

Logs:
Attached as well as the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Additional info:
7c87875adc.png

These files have been turning up in my external hard drive while I try to do the updates. At first I didn't know what they were but after some searching it turned out that they were just where the downloaded updates were stored. May or may not be relevant. Tried doing an update with the hard drive unplugged through the System and Security/Windows Update interface and it still failed.

I also tried to download and install the KB3068708 important update manually from the microsoft website but when I tried to install it it said something along the lines of "Update not applicable to your computer".

First priority is the listed files - we'll worry about the others later.

I'll post a fix protocol when I can clear the backlog. ! :(

I've uploaded a file - slxaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive

Please downloadand save it.
Right-click onthe downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder slxaa in the same place.

Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Alright, thanks for the help so far. Followed the instructions.
I let it install a hotfix - KB947821 too, not sure if that's relevant or not.

Anyway, logs attached. Thanks again.

ChckSUR has now done what it can - so we go back to the SFC data and see what that has to say.
Please run SFC /SCANNOW again, and post the new CBS.log file (compressed)

I booted up my pc today and it looks like the important update has installed. I manually got the unimportant three to download and install too and it looks they also worked fine but I'll confirm later today after I reboot. I'll also edit later with the new CBS.log but at the moment it looks like it's all working fine.
