I am getting error code 9C59 when trying to download IE11 from Windows Update. I followed the instructions on this link Troubleshooting a failed installation of Internet Explorer 11. It told me if I was getting that error to uninstall IE9, so I did, and now I'm stuck with IE8 and can't update it to either IE10 or IE11. For some reason, when I download IE11 from this link Download Internet Explorer 11 (64-Bit) from Official Microsoft Download Center, it says it is successful and tells me to restart my computer, but after I restart, and I open my IE>Help>about IE, it says I'm still on IE for some reason. But when I download from here Download Internet Explorer 11 (Offline installer) - Internet Explorer, it just says download unsuccessful and gives me a troubleshooting link. I have seen other people fix this, so I'm hoping I can get rid of this error. Thank you!

I had to delete from files from the zip because it was too large to upload, so I deleted all the CBSpersist files.

Hi thanks for the reply. Since we last spoke, I made some changes and redid SUR and SFC scans and developed a much shorter log which has less errors. Hope this can be fixed.

Now you've got me intrigued!! - what exactly did you do? I need to know, because it's possible to 'fix' these errors while actually making the problem worse (by e.g. using a registry 'cleaner')

As suggested by this microsoft troubleshooting page Troubleshooting a failed installation of Internet Explorer 11 , it told me to uninstall IE9. But I had IE10, so I uninstalled IE10, then uninstalled IE9, so I had IE8. And then I tried installing IE11, but yet again, I got error 9C59. So I just reinstalled IE10, redid the scans and that came up. I have only used a registry cleaner ,CCleaner, once, many many years ago. Also, I uninstalled one windows update, and when I tried to restart my computer, it was stuck at configuring windows for half an hour, so I forced shut down my computer by holding power button. Once I restarted computer, I redownloaded the update I uninstalled.

That sounds reasonable - and unlikely to cause any later problems.
I'll see what I can do about a fix for the remaining errors in the CheckSUR log.

I've managed to get the v9 keys sorted - but I'm having to build a VM with IE10 installed - back later with the full protocol.

I've uploaded a file - gbea.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file gbea.reg

Open an Elevated Command prompt, and run the following command

REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS

right-click on the file gbea.reg, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
Close all windows, and reboot.

Now try Windows Update - do a Check for Updates, and see what happens - attempt to install ONLY the oldest update that appears. What happens?

I still get error 9C59. I also redid SUR scan and it came up with no errors. I don't think this error is fixable. :(
