Error in installation of Windows 7 after windows vista

hello guys !
i am new to the forum but require urgent help. well my problem is that i was having windows vista but my windows got corrupted. now i am restoring my windows through recovery disk came with my laptop TOSHIBA A205 but its not working as setup is unable to complete and when laptp has to restart after installlation of setup then it is not restarting thus setup is incomplete and windows is not installed. now i am trying to install windows 7 but after clicking on install now in setup then my dvd drive stop responding and system hang up. i have not recovered my data but its on other drives. any clue by anybody that whats the pro and how ome i can overcome it.

I think some partition is corrupt.

Boot WIN7 install DVD and and enter recovery environment

just after clicking "install now" the systems hangs immediately? No disk activity, no animation... nothing?

If you had Vista why are you trying to install Win7 now? Do you have a Win7 upgrade license?

Is there a Vista Recovery partition on the HD which is the most stable way to run Factory Recovery? It would help to have your make and model so we can help you run this.

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? How do you plan to activate it?

i dont have windows vista complete now and i am trying to recover from recovery disc as i dont have recovery hard disk partition. and yes it just hangs after clicking instal now. i have tried to do that chkdsc thing but it is not working.
my assesment is that my hard disk has created some bad sectors or it has some problem that is causing unstability in hard disc.
i am intend to activate my windows online.

i have toshiba satellite A205 with T5550 processor 160 GB hard 2 GB DDR-II RAM. and i dont have any back up drive in my laptop.

If you have purchased WIn7 upgrade then you can Clean Install Windows 7 following the steps in the blue link.

Otherwise you can download Vista ISO file for your licensed version here, burn to DVD using ImgBurn, boot it to clean reinstall with the Product Key on the COA sticker. The steps are the same as for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
