Hi all, call me McPhil

Now recently I have been getting a problem with my windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. My computer would freeze anywhere from 30 seconds or so to a few minutes, mainly when watching a video mostly on youtube ;)ON YOUTUBE THE SOUNDS WILL EITHER STOP OR SOUND ROBOTY and rarely when I play minecraft. One time it popped up with the error message:
"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue." in a dialog box and had a Nvidia support link:
OpenGL “lost connection” Meaning | NVIDIA
I do not believe I have made any changes to my computer that would affect this problem (remember this has only started happening recently) finally it is getting frustrating.
=======
Extra Info:
Service Pack 1
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Did windows disk check.. nothing
Run malware checks antivirus etc
Done memory diagnostics.. not memtest i need someone to tell me how to use it.
=======
My pc specs are:
Pentium Dual Core E5400 2.70 ghz
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT
6 gb of ram... I installed an additional 4gb 2-3 months ago worked fine so not sure if problem causer..
ACPI x64 based PC
HDD: SAMSUNGHD501LJ ATA Device
Monitor: Emachines E202H
Network Adapters: Atheros AR9285 Wireless network adapter
Motherboard: Emachines EL1850
Sound cards: High Def Audio Device, NVIDIA virtual audio device (wave extensible) (WDM) :confused:

Hello and welocoem McPhil now if I read ths right the machine crashes on each boot up?? If so can you ry safe mode if it still crashes and you sya you have recently installed more RAM so I would be inclined to run a memtest
See this
MEMTEST
Now to make absolutely we are on the same page the memtest linked here is the only one we recommend and it MUST be run for at least 8 passes or you may as well not bother. It is rather lengthy and best left for a downtime for that machine - overnight is good. Having said that you can stop the test if errors show up while you are around and then it is a matter of tracking down the bad stick of RAM. RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums
(This is pretyped to save time)
NB Please make sure it is for 8passes as stated although if you get errors straight away you an stop it and start testing each individual stick on it's own.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. No the computer does not freeze right after boot up. It is mostly when watching a youtube video. And I will try memtest when I get time but I am leaning away from the ram problem since the new ram isn't well THAT new. Remember the problem is recent so it has been working fine for some time.

Could you let us know exactly what ram you are using (all sticks/modules)?

Ok mate well more reason to memtest in my opinion. For an example I had my sons build recently and it was runnig real slow and do inf all sorts of rubbish and he had built it with some real fancy RAM and I got errors in under 30 seconds - removed the offending sticks and away it went.

Ok mate now here is a little ditty of mine for reinforcing what you MUST do the rest is in the tutorial link.
Take it slowly and you may have to look up how to make a bootable disk it is not hard and also change the first boot option in your BIOS.
