Hi everyone,

I'm trying to help my dad fix a problem with his Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Toshiba Satellite P775-S7100. When he's using a piece of software for his work called Epic, he tries to record dictations on a microphone but this error always comes up: "MCI Error: Error starting new recording. All wave devices that can record files in the current format are in use. Wait until a device is free then try again. Command=record dictation overwrite. Command return string="

Any advice on this would be amazing. All of the advice I have found about this problem is in regards to XP. Thanks in advance.

I see what this program is, for medical dictation. I assume the version he has is Windows 7 compatible and not an older Win XP program. First step would be to contact the program vendor to check that it is set up correctly. I see that it also incorporates Dragon Naturally Speaking, a voice recognition program and maybe that is where the problem is?
