Every program won't start

I have HP Windows 7 Home Premium. The trouble I'm having is, I recently removed a Trojan virus using Norton Internet Security 2010 and the problem I'm having is, every program won't start, it says "Choose the program you want to use to open this file" and I would have to navigate to the exact location of the program just to run it. All the programs are like that. I just know that the virus left behind some bad effects after removing it. Help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

If these are shortcuts that will not open, then try the lnk download in the tutorial below to see if that may help fix this afterwards.

If these are the program's EXE files that will not open, then try the exe download in the tutorial below to see if that may help fix this afterwards.
