Exclude $RECYCLE.BIN from Offline Files?

I've got a shared drive on my PC, and I'm trying to sync it using Offline Files. The process keeps failing because of the Recycle Bin file, $RECYCLE.BIN. Normal folders on other drives sync fine.

Does anyone know how to exclude $RECYCLE.BIN from Offline Files?

It seems offline exclusion(Files Not Cached) totally works by file extension. Since files in the recycle bin keep their extensions I don't see how to get around it.
