Expanding System Drive

Hello

Wondered if I might get a little help expanding my system drive C: that my windows 7 is installed on. I have an empty partition named Limbo sitting there that I would like to "merge" with my current system drive C: however I cannot expand the C: drive in any traditional method I am familiar with. I have attached a photo for clarity.

I must confess I am no expert and welcome any suggestions to get this done!

If Limbo were to the right of C, you could likely do it with Windows Disk Management. But Limbo is to the left.

So you would need a third party application such as Acronis Disk Director, Partition Wizard, or others that escape me at the moment. I think Partition Wizard 4.2.2 is a free download.

While you are at it, you may as well put C to the extreme left to make it easier on yourself later on.

It looks like you have a dual boot system there? If there is nothing on it I'd delete the 'limbo' partition before expanding the C: drive, tho' you may have to move the C: into the space left before doing that. If you are running a 32 bit system try EASUS partition master, free for home use. I've used it with no trouble to do the same sort of thing.

Before doing anything backup and image everything. good luck

Thanks guys - sorry for the absence. Busy week..

I will give your suggestions a shot. I have a copy of acronis around somewhere, I will dig it up. I will also backup and image before doing this.

Last question, when you suggest moving C: to the left, is that something that can be done within disc management or will a 3rd party app - such as acronis - be necessary for this step? Also, why is having C: on the left a good idea?
