Hello everyone,

I have been having a problem with my two displays for quite some time now. I was able to fix it at first by resorting to a restore point but, now I've done it again.

I am using a LCD tv as my main display with 1360*768 resolution. My other display is a regular LCD 21" monitor. I am trying to get its resolution to 1360*768 as well so, the monitors will match. My graphics software is ATI Catalyst 10.1
I have the displays set as "extend" but my 21" display does not show the extended desktop. It just shows a blank screen. It is receiving a signal but, it isn't doing anything. It will display the boot screen but nothing else.

At first the problem was that the 21" was not displaying 1360*768 correcting. It was displaying the extended desktop with a 3" black border all around. So it was basically showing a little tiny desktop. Now it doesn't display anything.

I've tried reinstalling Catalyst, resetting to default, and changing resolutions. Nothing is working and I do not want to revert to a previous OS state and lose some program settings.

Have you changed the refresh rate back after installing the ati drivers in desktops properties in the CCC? If its set too high you will have no options much with the screen resolutions. Try disabling the extended desktop and see if you can fix the no1 display and then re-enable the other one etc.
The black line maybe because you have aspect ratio enabled instead of scale the image to full panel size - desktop & displays - right click monitor, and click configure.
You can usually set aspect ratio / full screen manually using buttons on the monitor also.
Sorry if this is useless and you have already tried these things :(

extended display not working

I have an AMD 6700-series adapter. My primary display is connected to the DVI port. The VGA port is connected to VGA to DVI adapter. This is then connected to a DVI-HDMI cable which is plugged into a 720P TV. My PC recognizes the TV, but when I extend the display, I get nothing on the TV screen. If I plug my monitor into the VGA port and the DVI-HDMI cable directly into the DVI port, the monitor & the extended display on the TV both work properly.

Is there something about using these 3 adapters (VGA-DVI+DVI-HDMI) that is causing the problem? (Windows even tells me I will have to use separate audio connectors, so I know it sees the TV.)

(I really want to use the DVI connection for the monitor).
