External HDD enclosure not shutting down

I have a Vantec HX4R External HDD Enclosure (no RAID setup) that is not shutting down for sleep or when computer is shut off. Tech support suggested that I look around in settings and may find something that controls the power supply through the USB 3.0 cabling which it is hooked up through.
The HX4R unit receives power from it's own power source, the USB 3.0 is only a computer to HDD enclosure link.
Anyone have any ideas?

I have a similar problem with a NexStar HDD enclosure connected to a USB 3.0 port on the motherboard. For the longest time, when I "safely removed" the drive, it also turned off. Then, it stopped doing that. Not aware of changing any settings; it just stopped shutting down. Would be interested if you find a solution for this for yours.

Mark; Thanks for getting back to me. I should have said NexStar (Vantec) #NST-640S3R-BK... Did not try it with eSATA option as that particular computer has no external connection for it. I see you are running Px32, I have Ux64 on this one. You are ahead of me- at least yours USED TO work on "safe remove", I've always had to switch this one off at the unit either after the 'safe remove' or 'computer shut down'.. Aside from that quirk, I'm pleased with the unit as a HDD storage unit.
