external HDD not recognizing.

i hv "WD My Passport" external 1TB HDD, its not showing me on "My Computer" and on "Disk Management" showing as Disk 1..

I think it should be initialized - online
try to change usb cable

...and try another usb port as well, to rule in or rule out a port problem

If it is offline put it in online...
in command prompt type-->diskpart-->type list disk--> if you external hdd shows as offline -->type select disk 1-->type online disk...
