Extremely High Memory Usage

Try disabling your anti-virus. Currently they just are not working very well with Windows 7.

Anti virus programs are causing this to happen, Nod32 and ESET also. No, it's not suicide at all to not have an anti virus program. I'm not using one and havn't had a single problem since build 7000.

In fact since Win7 is new and not even officially released to retail yet, the anti virus programs are causing more problems than they are solving for the time being.

I'm not using an AV either and although I have avira installed it is disabled. I start it up once a month for a scan so as long as your careful you shouldn't have any issues regarding viruses.. If that does not work then i would go along with the others and say fresh install...

Good luck..............

Isn't it a suicide??
Depends how careless you are. I've not been running an anti-virus since Vista. If I'm suspicious of a file I send it to VirusTotal.com. If you are not downloading everything under the sun just because someone says you should... You would be fine.
