So I have this problem playing flash based games on facebook. I took notice when my two laptops that do not have dedicated graphics and are much slower than my desktop seem to handle these games far better than the desktop. Seems to get worse as flash upgrades and higher versions of chrome/firefox come out. I even tried downgrading but didnt help any. My desktop can play all of the top games just fine, COD, Battlefield, Bioshock etc etc just fine, no lag. My CPU, 2600k i7, my graphics, nvidia GTX 580, 16 gigs of ram. My system is overclocked to its maximum without burning it up and it holds up just fine, no bsod just excessive heat for 5ghz (to be expected) so I would think simple flash games would be fine but not the case and it seems to be getting worse. I adjusted some of my settings in the nvidia control panel from system defaults to mostly forced settings that appeared to help but not all that great. Ive tried using browsers with no addons, older versions of software, and reverted the cpu clock/ram to its stock settings.

What gives?

Uninstall all flash plugins.

Restart.

Reinstall them.

Note: If you have chrome, adobe flash does not need to be installed. It is part of the browser. In this case, make sure chrome is up to date using the 3 lines-about google chrome.

Your awesome for reading this.
This has been done. I'm aware chrome doesn't need a plugin for flash and I have made sure all browsers are running addon/extensions that are only needed.

Check flash settings

Load a Facebook game
Right-click the screen
Click on Settings

Click on the folder icon (storage)
Change to allow the maximum

Reload the game to see if there is any improvement.

You can also set the global flash settings here:
Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel

The image is a Flash settings control - make changes the same way you would on the local settings control.

That's all I can offer on this issue ... good luck.

Grasping at straws here:
Have you tried playing the games in the safe mode with networking?

Or maybe disable hardware acceleration:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/891337

Also, try removing Flash again...
...but get rid of the folders mentioned here:
Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
...before re-installing.

No I haven't actually I would think this disables my nvidia settings since safe mode disables most start up items but I'll try it. Turning off Hardware acceleration did nothing or doesn't appear to do anything. I have done the whole flash uninstall I just reloaded the desktop couple months ago actually -- its been ongoing just now starting to frustrate me though.

Thanks. I have done this as well. I have allowed higher cache/temp settings and even lowered it as well.

I am assuming you have the latest drivers for that card Graphics Cards - ENGTX580 DCII/2DIS/1536MD5 - ASUS

and to me a 650 watt PSU seems to be a tad small for running what you are - if you are OCing like you said you did.

I have no explanation for the laptops being ok.

I get my drivers directly from nvidia.com ASUS rarely has the latest nvidia drivers for the card. The Power Supply came recommended to me by overclockers.net; 650 was sufficient. I am running stock settings right now, the OC actually helps but worries me that I need that much power to run a flash game.

Thanks for all your help doesn't sound like this is something I will get truly resolved just have to put up with it.

Did you have any trouble deleting the Flash folders?

Just curious. I've had them remain in use after uninstalling Flash.

Nope. Most if not all software leaves traces of folders/files behind intentionally in case the user wants to install again and there is less time spent on customization.
