That sounds like an external HD which is nearly impossible to use for booted install. You really only need a 4gb+ flash stick for that.

If you've thought it out and want to invest in a flash stick like that then you can write the IS0 to it using the tool in tutorial, then keep it bootable as an installer for repairs or reinstalls as long as you keep the 7 WIn7 installation folders in the drive root. Anything else you put in there should not interfere as long as you don't touch those files.

I've still not seen one used for that much storage. There is a chip that identifies the difference between a stick and USB external HD that makes it nearly impossible to format an external as bootable installer, so maybe someone else knows if there are any unforeseen consequences.
