Hi,

Since 10/07/2014 I am having serious problems with 9 updates in Windows Update.
I just took a look at some other topics in this forum section and it seems I am not the only one having these problems.

I've already tried several things i've found on the internet, but nothing really nothing worked out for me.
I've tried the hotfix, didn't work out; i've tried multiple CMD commands, didn't work out; i've tried to rename the catroot2 folder, didn't work out either...

Is this problem common? Because most of the updates are important; so i'd like them to be installed and they keep on failing every day since then.

If I need to post or upload something, please tell me, because i'm not a computer expert ;-)

Thanks in advantage,
Blizzard9041

Please open an elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command,

REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
REG QUERY HKLM\COMPONENTS

post the results.

Here are some instructions to make life easier

1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

The problem is solved!

I've done the same thing like you've said on llanita's thread:

REG DELETE HKLM\COMPONENTS /v PendingRequired

Then I rebooted and i've redone the updates and they were all successfully installed :D

Thank you for your help!!! :grouphug:

You're welcome! - and it reinforces the value of the fix (which until yesterday, I'd never heard of!)

Indeed! I've also never heard of it; I've tried 10 different things to fix the problem and then something that easy fixed the whole problem, lol ;-)

Computers will forever stay a mystery for me ;-)
