Hello!

I have Windows 7 RC1 installed for some time, dual-booting with Windows XP. And that worked like a charm. But a couple of days ago I installed Ubuntu on the Windows XP partition (after formatting it with ext3, of course). But the thing is, I have been trying to boot into my dear Windows 7 ever since, with no success. It didn't show in the boot manager, so I changed the menu.lst in Ubuntu. Thus it can be seen, but to no avail, as it does not work. I have tryed fixing it with the Windows 7 installation DVD, but it did not work. And I really ran out of ideas; also I would like to keep both my OS-es as they are (all data), if that's possible somehow.
Looking forward to reading your suggestions, thank you!

Ok so right now you have ubuntu, and win 7 right? and you want to keep the data in both. You probably had xp installed first then installed win 7 after and had a boot menu to let you chose which. when you formatted xp the boot loader was probably on the xp partition. You can use bcedit (i think there is a tutorial on its use here @ SF in the tutorial section)

Hope Im close in my assumtions and hope it helps a little.

Hello there!

And thank you for such quickness in replying!
The problem is, I am unable to enter Windows 7, hence I cannot use bcdedit. (I have read about it on these forums while researching the issue, and it seems that I have to be logged into Windows to use it, am I right? If not, please correct me, as I have never used it before).
