Have attempted to upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium (32) to Windows Seven Home Premium (32) a total of 6 times without success due to the following error found in setuperr.log:

Plugin {e0cbf06c-cd8b-4647-bb8a-263b43f0f974}: BthMig: Failed to migrate bthport keys, bailing out

Have tried a number of troubleshooting suggestions on a number of forums without success including:

1) Checked that I had the latest key drivers (audio, Chipset, BIOS, SATA driver, Video). NOTE: This is according to Vista; though DriverMax suggests more up-to-date drivers. To this point, I have went with the drivers that Vista states are the most up-to-date.
2) Removed all 3rd party CD/DVD burning software.
3) Ran memory diagnostics to screen for any memory errors.
4) Performed the upgrade in "Clean Boot" mode.
5) Turned off various Windows features:
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0\XPS Viewer
- Remote Differential Compression
- Window DFS Replication Service

System Information:
Sony Vaio Laptop VGN-N250E/B
Processor: Intel T2250 @ 1.73GHz
Memory: 1GB
Current OS: Vista Home Premium (32) SP2

I really want to avoid the need for a clean install on this laptop and would appreciate any suggestions to further troubleshooting or better yet, a solution that will allow successful upgrade. I have all the necessary log files captured and can upload for further information upon request.

Thank You Very Much for anyone who can provide assistance!

Additional information I should have provided:

Windows Compatibility Report only shows 2 warnings which appear to be non-issues:
1) De-author iTunes (Complete)
2) System Mechanic 6 (Couldn't find install anywhere in registry)

Windows 7 Media is a retail purchased copy.

Have you uninstalled all bluetooth applications, including from the 2nd and 3rd registry hives under Software?

Set a restore point before using regedit.

RE: gregrocker

To the best of knowledge, there is no Bluetooth capability on this laptop, only wifi. After the 1st installation failure, I did a thorough scrub of the applications to see if there was anything that "appeared" to be Bluetooth related and did not find anything. I also searched the devices (including hidden) and did not find anything. In terms of the registry, I also did a search for BthMig and removed all registry references that relate to this.

Not sure how else to find something related to Bluetooth when as far as I can tell there is not Bluetooth capability on the Laptop. Any other suggestions?

Are you sure that it might not be quicker to do a clean format install by booting the DVD, selecting Custom Install and using Drive Options to delete all partitions, create New one(s) as you wish, then format before installing to first partition?

It will be a much better installation than importing all the corruption from Vista. If now is not the time to do a clean install, with the greatest OS yet, then when is?
