Solved Failure to upgrade XP to 7 on second PC

Basically I had XP Pro; then Family Pack x3 upgrade to 7 Home Premium; the latter was replaced by 10 X32 which was then taken to 10 x64.
I have just transferred successfully to a new PC.
Having the x3 version of 7, I wish to install it on my old PC for a junior household member (the third computer is my wife's laptop, upgraded to 10 x32).
I tried to install 7 but, I assume because of being an upgrade, the Product key was denied so I tried going back to XP which is successfully installed and activated. However, this would not upgrade as it was the basic program and needed first upgrading to SP2 minimum.
I've tried the 'net for SP 2 or 3 ISO files: I did find an SP3 but that would not work presumably needing SP2, I can't get an SP2 that works after several different downloads.
I don't want to go beyond 7 Home Premium (even if I could get there) as 10 didn't recognise the Pioneer DVD SATA disk in this older PC.
Can anyone help ..... not too technical, I'm nearing 80!

Thanks very much for the reply AddRAM, but following your link to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor produced the following advice: "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will run on the following 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems: XP with SP2" (according to 'Brink').
In my original meanderings you'll find that I've had no success getting SP2. If I could have done so I would probably have also managed to sort SP3 though, when I tried to install the upgrade from my W7 disk, I was informed that I needed at least SP2 which presumably would have seen me home and dry.
So far, I went direct to that 'Advisor' link, I'll now have a look at the other two Tutorials you listed.

Advice is very much appreciated.

Hi again AddRAM,

Just tried one of the other two links, going through Vista to 7: xp Pro (32 bit) - Vista you need Business, Ultimate.
My Wife had Vista prior to going through 7 to 10, but neither Business nor Ultimate.
About to try the third link ....

Im pretty sure Service Packs 2 and 3 can be downloaded from majorgeeks.

Sorry for the delay in answering - life's a bit hectic at present - I sorted it eventually: I downloaded a 7 ISO file and did a clean install.
