Fan Confusion With First Build

Hi,

I decided to have a go and build my first mini itx computer using an Gigabyte e-350 (usb 2 version), which I'll provide the link for. I have used a new Fractal mitx case and I have loaded it with x2 1200mm (front and side), fans and x1 920mm rear fan, as this machine will be left on 24/7 pretty much.

Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any sockets for my fans that fit. In fact, there is only one 4 header pin for a system fan and one 3 header pin that the cpu fan is already using. Basically my 3 Fractal fans all have 3 pin plugs.

Is there some sort of adapter I need or is the motherboard unable to run these fans?

Also, when connecting the F-panel sockets, I had x2, 7 pin plugs, one saying AUDIO, and the other saying 98,AC (they seem to be interconnected within the same loom). I've stuck the AUDIO one in as there isn't another 7 pin audio socket on there for the 98,AC. I take it that's ok?

Giving the fact it is a APU board and not high end I would suggest buying fan adapters to the Power supply the board really looks plain and basic I might add but i'm not sure if you will have limitations with it because it looks like a regular board with no frills as you pointed out it only has the CPU fan and a extra fan for the board

If your looking to get better cooling that is your best bet also do you plan in pairing it with a GPU if so then you do need to add more fans

BTW should of mentioned this you can always take the board back and get a better version instead of getting adapters sorry wasn't thinking about that

Daz pal do you mean 120mm (1.4") and 92mm fans ... (1200mm is 1.2m ) ... that's twice as big as the radiator on my car

Haha, sorry yes I did. It was a late night post after doing uni work all day! Oh yes they would be huge lol

Cheers for that, but I've just realised my fans are not PWM (4-pin), so I've just gone for a Molex to x4, 3 pin fan splitter, with x2 of the cables being 5v and the other x2 being 12v.

Does anyone know why I've got x2 audio 7 pin connectors coming from the F-panal? I've only got one header for audio. The one I've plugged in is a blue one called "HD AUDIO" and left the interconnecting connector called "97'AC".

Yes just ignore the 97 AC and zip tie it to the main HD audio and call it a day.

Tip on that case :
I would zip tie as many of the un-used cables into a tight bundle and get them out of the air flow as much as possible. Then as was suggested the fans can run directly off a molex but without a resistor to slow them some fans of lesser quality will sound like jet aircraft taking off. I would just cut to the chase and pull the trigger on some Noctua's as they can run at a full 12 volt and stay quiet. Noctua also provides cool little links with resistors to slow them if desired. A fan controller is also nice but wiring into a tight case could prove...........fun?

Or, you could velcro one of these and run all the fans from 1 molex.
